Clinical Laboratory Assistants are expected to be able to perform the following tasks:

• Attention to detail: Precise measurements must be made and samples handled with utmost care.
• Stamina: Moving and preparing samples around a modern reference laboratory is physically demanding.

A medical assistant is an allied health professional that supports the work of physicians, nurses, and other health professionals. Medical Assistants work in a variety of clinical environments including clinics, private practices, hospitals, and in mobile care settings; most positions required an accredited certification to practice, such as that offered by the NHA, and many choose to specialize with additional training.

Medical assisting is one of the fastest growing professional fields in healthcare right now. Due to an increasing aged population and increasing number of physician offices, medical assisting is sure to see continued growth (United States Bureau of Labor Statistics).

EKG Technicians work in healthcare alongside doctors specializing in the administration of electrocardiograms (EKGs). EKG Technicians can also be involved in patient monitoring in cardiac telemetry units in hospitals or work in emergency rooms, urgent care clinics, and doctor's offices. Not only are EKG Technicians responsible for administering the EKG, but they may also record the patient history and take patient vitals, participate in cardiac stress testing, instructing patients, and placing Holter monitors for remotely recording a patient's daily EKG.

EKG Technicians are expected to be able to perfom jobs with the following demands:

• Attention to detail: Small changes on an EKG are sometimes difficult to see.
• Professionalism and good bedside manner: You will be working directly with patients unsupervised.
